So I had some leftover apples from the apple pie we made the other night, and I decided to create my own apple dessert… I didn’t really measure anything, so sorry about the lack of measurements… Chandler said we should call it the Nutty Sticky Apple Raisin Goodness Stuff. That works. It seriously is really good!
Ingredients:
- 3 granny smith apples, cored, peeled, and sliced thin
- Sugar
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
- Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp melted butter
- Flour
- Oats
- Chopped walnuts
- Plumped Raisins
- Leftover butter sauce from apple cake (butter, sugar and vanilla)
Here’s what to do:
Coat the apples in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar, and then grate some fresh nutmeg on top, and pour a little extra sugar and cinnamon on the top of that. Plump some raisins in a bowl of water in the microwave, and then drain and place on top of the apples in the baking dish. Separately, add a little flour and some brown sugar to the butter until the mixture looks crumbly. Then add in some oats and chopped walnuts. Put the crumble mixture on top of the apples and raisins and bake at 400 for about 30 minutes. After removing from the oven, top with butter sauce while still hot and then let set for about 15 minutes. Serve with ice cream or vanilla yogurt if you want.
